Μουστοκούλουρα

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup EVOO
  • 1/2 cup fine sugar
  • 1/2 cup red wine or Petimezi
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp ground cloves
  • To garnish:
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Using a big bowl, mix the the EVOO, sugar and wine.
  2. In a seperate bowl mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cloves and cinnamon.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the EVOO mixture until. Soft dough forms (you may need to add more flour). Set the dough aside to rest in the fridge for around half an hour.
  4. Line a baking tray with baking paper and in a seperate bowl add the sesame seeds for the garnish.
  5. Take the dough and break off equal size pieces (about 1 tsp); roll into a thin cord and then make your preferred shape (usually a small circle). Dip in the sesame seeds and press lightly so they stick and place on the lined baking tray.
  6. Bake for around 15 minutes, leave them to cool on trays and serve with coffee, sweet wine or red wine.
